Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Koepfer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Selwoods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koepfer's entrance music is Mongol. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Koepfer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 21 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Selwoods!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koepfer throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Mark Selwoods has been cut.
Selwoods fails with the takedown

and Koepfer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Selwoods looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
It looks like Koepfer is going to stand back up.
Koepfer wants to pass to mount but Selwoods is defending the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Selwoods has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koepfer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Koepfer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Selwoods works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Selwoods is looking for a triangle but Koepfer pushes his legs off easily.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Koepfer's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Selwoods controls Koepfer momentarily but Koepfer frees himself.

Koepfer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Selwoods is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Koepfer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Selwoods has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Koepfer has managed to get both his arms back between Selwoods's legs - danger averted.

Koepfer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Koepfer gets to his feet - Selwoods follows without any prompting.

Selwoods feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Selwoods parries the strikes from Koepfer easily there. Koepfer is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Selwoods to escape.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Koepfer doesn't manage to clinch there - Selwoods circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Koepfer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Selwoods closes this distance looking for a takedown but Koepfer circles away.
Koepfer tries to clinch but Selwoods moves out of range.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Koepfer.
Koepfer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The fight stays on the outside here - Koepfer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Selwoods jumps guard but Koepfer stands there with Selwoods around his waist. Selwoods gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Koepfer buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Selwoods shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Koepfer counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Koepfer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Koepfer is trying hard to land a takedown here. Selwoods sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Selwoods jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Koepfer walks away with a smile on his face. Selwoods gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Koepfer! Selwoods is out on his feet! Koepfer rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Selwoods is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Selwoods is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stephen Koepfer!
