Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taro Mishima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Romulo Correa!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Correa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A low kick from Mishima misses
and Correa counters with an outside leg kick.
Mishima misses with a double jab
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Correa misses with a body kick.
Correa misses with a body kick.
Correa misses with an attempted mid kick.
Mishima avoids the head kick by Correa.
Correa scores with a nice body kick.
Correa misses with a looping left.
Mishima throws a leg kick that is checked
and Correa counters with an inside leg kick.
Mishima is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mishima finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice leg kick lands there from Correa.
Mishima misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Correa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mishima throws a right hand that misses
and Correa makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Correa lands a big head kick that sends Mishima tumbling to the mat! Correa takes a step backwards and waves Mishima back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mishima is rocked!
It looks like Taro Mishima has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head kick misses from Correa.
Oh Mishima is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Taro Mishima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mishima drops his hands momentarily and Correa needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Mishima just on the top of the head. Mishima drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Mishima - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Romulo Correa!
A less than humble Romulo Correa misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
