Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cyprien Noe Cyr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cruz Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cyprien Noe Cyr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cruz Gomez! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cyr gets tackled into the cage by Gomez. Gomez maintains the clinch. Cyr throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gomez blocks it with crossed arms. Cyr manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Gomez postures up in Cyr's guard and throws a big left but Cyr blocks it. Cyr keeping moving, preventing Gomez from controlling successfully. Gomez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cyr throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Cyr pulls Gomez in close to prevent any damage. Cyr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Gomez trying to control the position from guard on top but Cyr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Cruz Gomez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Cyr tries to sprawl but Gomez drives through with a takedown into half guard. Cyr is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gomez pulls his head out easily. Cyr is not content to let Gomez control the position. Gomez tries to pass to full mount but Cyr defends it. Gomez prevents Cyr from improving his position. Gomez is looking for a kimura here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cyr tries to roll over but Gomez keeps him under control. Gomez is trying to control the action in half guard but Cyr is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gomez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Cyr is pressing down on Gomez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Gomez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Cyr looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gomez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cyr keeping full guard, as Gomez tries to pass. Cyr is pulling down on Gomez's head. It's preventing any offense from Gomez, at least for the moment.

Cyr working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gomez. Gomez tries to free his leg and advance position but Cyr is retaining full guard. Gomez wants to stand but Cyr is controlling his posture from full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cyr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gomez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gomez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gomez wants to stand but Cyr has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cyr looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gomez is one step ahead there. Cyr is pulling down on Gomez's head. It's preventing any offense from Gomez, at least for the moment.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cyr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cyr has a closed guard, preventing Gomez from standing up. Cyr pulls Gomez in close to his closed guard and prevents Gomez from doing any damage or advancing position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Cruz Gomez will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gomez shoots in and bounces Cyr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Cyr seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Gomez wants to control from the top but Cyr keeps moving. Cyr looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cyr scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Gomez clinches up with Cyr and pushes him back against the cage.

Gomez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cyr is proving hard to escape from. Cyr is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gomez is aware though and is defending well. Cyr looking for a guillotine here but Gomez defends easily.

Gomez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gomez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Cruz Gomez. Gomez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cyr. Gomez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Cyr closes the distance and clinches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cyr jumps into guard, dragging Gomez to the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomez preventing the sweep. Cyr is working hard here to advance position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cyr is on top in guard.

Cyr advances position into side control! Cyprien Noe Cyr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cyr decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gomez to his feet. Gomez misses with a wild combination.

Cyr is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gomez is aware though and is defending well. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cyr has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Gomez wants to get up but he can't break Cyr's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gomez looking to pass the guard. Cyr has his foot on Gomez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gomez works his way back into a safe position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Gomez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cyr napping and manages to drive through into side control! Cyr wants to control but Gomez postures up. Cyr is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gomez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Gomez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cyr to the ground. Gomez is now in Cyr's guard. Gomez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cyr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gomez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gomez trying to control but Cyr is working from the bottom. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gomez tries to free his leg and advance position but Cyr is retaining full guard. Cyr is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cyprien Noe Cyr. I think Cyr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
