PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonid Rublev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bone Krusher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rublev comes to the cage accompanied by Гимн. Bone Krusher will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leonid Rublev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bone Krusher!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krusher dives in and scores a takedown into Rublev's guard.
Rublev trying to keep a closed guard but Krusher is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rublev holds on and takes a little breather.
Rublev looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Krusher got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rublev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Krusher has managed to get both his arms back between Rublev's legs - danger averted.
Krusher wanted to stand there but Rublev had control of the position.

Rublev wants to sweep here but Krusher controlling him for the moment.
Krusher should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Krusher postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Leonid Rublev wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Krusher moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rublev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rublev fails with the takedown

and Krusher counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Rublev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rublev is breathing heavily.
Krusher wants to take a breather but Rublev is having none of it.
Rublev wants to get back to full guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Krusher has eaten all the pies!
Rublev is working hard here to advance position.
Krusher wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rublev keeps working.
Krusher content to control rather than advance.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bone Krusher hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Krusher gets a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Krusher misses with an elbow strike.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rublev drags the fight down to the ground.

Rublev looking for subs off his back but Krusher has passed one foot through into half guard.
Krusher tries to stand and escape but Rublev is controlling the position.
Krusher looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rublev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Krusher decides to return to a standing position.
Krusher scores with a jab to the head.
Krusher throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Krusher closes the distance and pushes Rublev back into the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Krusher manages to break the clinch.
Rublev blocks a head kick by Krusher.
Rublev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Krusher swivels and escapes.

Krusher moves into the clinch.
Krusher can't break the clinch.
Krusher has had enough of the clinch but Rublev keeps him there for the moment.
Krusher misses with the head strike.
Rublev fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leonid Rublev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Rublev keeps control of Krusher as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Krusher has Rublev pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Krusher pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rublev tumbling to the mat - Krusher dives into Rublev's guard.

Krusher controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Krusher is standing up over Rublev. Rublev looks to escape but Krusher dives into side control.
Krusher working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rublev struggling a bit here.

Krusher stands up and beckons Rublev to his feet.

Krusher has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Krusher's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rublev prevents Krusher from breaking the clinch.

Krusher escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bone Krusher dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Krusher shoots in and gets a takedown into Rublev's guard.
Rublev is controlling Krusher's posture.
Bone Krusher has got the better of the ground game so far.

Krusher is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Krusher is looking to work some ground and pound but Rublev has wrist control.

Krusher gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rublev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Krusher counters with a shoot takedown. Rublev fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Krusher works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Krusher decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Krusher fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rublev to the ground. Krusher is now in Rublev's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rublev is trying to control the position but Krusher postures up.
Rublev being controlled here, momentarily.
Rublev not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rublev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Krusher on the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rublev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Krusher counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Krusher.

Krusher gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rublev is trying to maintain the position but Krusher is very close to passing his half guard.

Krusher seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Rublev is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Bone Krusher!
In his post fight interview, Bone Krusher started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
