PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sho Kazuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazuki comes to the cage accompanied by Effects of Hiroshima. Scott is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bang - By Barry Scott. Barry Scott has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sho Kazuki's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Sho Kazuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Barry Scott!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kazuki throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kazuki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kazuki feints and then cracks Scott's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Scott down.
Kazuki swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A combination from Kazuki does no damage.
Scott shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Scott blocks a jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kazuki looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Scott shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Scott throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kazuki because Scott loaded up on that one.

Kazuki tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kazuki is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Scott controlling from the full mount.
Scott tries to control but Kazuki wriggling away.
Scott has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Scott throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kazuki tries to hold on but Scott pushes him away.
Kazuki wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Scott.
Scott pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Scott looking to ground and pound but Kazuki is blocking nicely.

Poor strikes thrown by Scott there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Scott swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kazuki is now in Scott's guard. A big mistake from Scott there, giving up the dominant position!

Scott is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kazuki is looking to stand up but Scott won't let him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kazuki pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Scott is keeping the position for now.
Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Barry Scott.
Kazuki dips to his left and cracks Scott with an uppercut!
Scott keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sho Kazuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kazuki blocks a leg kick.
Kazuki is looking to clinch but Scott is avoiding it.
A clash of legs there as Scott blocks the low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry Scott dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


An inside leg kick lands from Kazuki.
Scott clobbers Kazuki with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Scott lands a glancing blow to the side of Kazuki's head.
Scott avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Scott gets a takedown into half guard.
Scott thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Scott is keen to just control but Kazuki is a slippery customer.
Scott wants to free his trapped foot but Kazuki is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Scott uses his free foot to push down on Kazuki's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kazuki.

Scott wants to control the pace but Kazuki is squirming around nicely.
Kazuki is looking to get to half guard.
Poor strikes thrown by Scott there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Barry Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kazuki is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Scott misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Scott with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Kazuki wants to hold on but Scott pushes him away.
Scott thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Scott tries to control but Kazuki wriggling away.
Kazuki tries to lock up and control but Scott gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
BOOM! Scott connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kazuki is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Kazuki in real trouble here! The ref calls for Kazuki to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barry Scott!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Barry Scott waved his t-shirt featuring Canadian Fighter Clothing's logo in front of the cameras.
