Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Ang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoshiko Takara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ang comes to the cage accompanied by Long Way To The Top. Takara has chosen Heartbeats as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodney Ang!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hoshiko Takara!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takara tries to work over Ang's front leg with a kick but Ang checks it.

Ang shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Takara napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Takara is trying to get back to half guard.
Takara is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ang connects with a decent elbow.
Ang scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Takara to see if he's OK.
Ang scores with punches from side control.
Takara tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ang wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Takara manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ang's best efforts.
Ang lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Takara is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ang scores with a couple of nice shots.
Takara is looking to improve his position.
Ang is looking to take a break and control but Takara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Takara makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Takara.
Ang cracks Takara with a solid left hand.
Ang looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ang chips away with some ground and pound.
Ang trying to control but Takara is working from the bottom.
Ang passes Takara's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Takara tries to get to full guard but Ang has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takara is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Takara is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ang's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ang's back!
Ang covering up well and avoiding damage.
Ang rolls, trying to escape but Takara keeps control of the position.
Ang looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Takara doesn't have the hooks in and Ang manages to turn into his guard.
Takara can't keep his opponent in guard - Ang advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Takara blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ang.
Takara keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ang working over Takara with some ground and pound. Takara looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Ang thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Takara's head.

Takara looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Ang working the head and body with strikes.
Ang tries to pass to full mount but Takara defends it.
Ang is trying to control. Takara wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ang working Takara over with strikes.
Takara wants to control the action here but instead Ang manages to pass to full mount!
BOOM! Ang connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Takara tries to lock up and control but Ang gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Takara is in a horrible position here. Ang smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Takara is looking to get to half guard.

Ang working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Ang with good strikes from the mount here!
Takara is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ang with shots to the head and body - Takara looks very uncomfortable down there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ang lands with some strikes.


Takara is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ang lands a big elbow - Takara is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Takara is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Rodney Ang!
Rodney Ang retains his middleweight title!
