Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominick Aldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cung Lee! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo tries to clinch but Lee moves out of range. Lee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Aldo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Lee closes the distance and pushes Aldo back into the cage. Lee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Aldo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Aldo gets tackled into the cage by Lee. Lee maintains the clinch. Lee gets control of Aldo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lee will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aldo stops Lee from standing up. Aldo throwing strikes from guard but Lee blocks nicely. Aldo wants to get up but he can't break Lee's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Aldo wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. Lee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Aldo. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Aldo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Aldo slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Lee. Aldo stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Aldo sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Aldo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Aldo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Aldo wants it to stay on the feet. Dominick Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cung Lee. Aldo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lee as he avoids it easily. Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Aldo which made him look bad. Aldo tries a head kick but it misses.
Lee closes the distance and clinches. Aldo tries to break the clinch but Lee is controlling the position. Lee breaks the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Aldo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Aldo tries to clinch up and Lee holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Lee takes an elbow to the temple. Lee decides to pull guard. Aldo wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position. Lee looks gassed! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lee wants to stand but Aldo is controlling the position. Aldo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Aldo wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Aldo scoring with some ground and pound. Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aldo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lee is looking to stand up but Aldo isn't so interested in that idea. Aldo wants to stand and escape but instead Lee has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Aldo will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Dominick Aldo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aldo as he jumps to the side. Dominick Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Aldo tries to clinch there but Lee circles away.
Aldo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lee misses with a takedown attempt - Aldo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Aldo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aldo shoots in looking for a takedown but Lee manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aldo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Aldo moves to clinch but Lee breaks away and Lee counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Aldo tries to stall but Lee uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Aldo. Lee tries to land knees in the clinch but Aldo avoids the damage to the body. Lee keeps control of Aldo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Aldo jumps guard but Lee turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Aldo misses with a short punch on the inside.

Aldo is looking to control Lee's arms but Lee gets an underhook and turns him. Now Aldo has his back to the cage. Aldo missing with knees to the body.
Lee displaying some good clinch control by pressing Aldo up against the cage. Aldo tries to score a body lock takedown but Lee shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dominick Aldo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lee pulls guard. Aldo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Aldo stands up and we're back to a striking position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Aldo tries to clinch there but Lee circles away.

Lee dives in and grabs Aldo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Aldo pushes down on Lee's head and hops out. Lee closes the distance and clinches. A hook to the body from Lee.
Lee is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Aldo pulls him back up using the underhooks. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Aldo wants to clinch up but Lee keeps it at a distance. Lee wants to clinch. A head kick misses from Lee. Aldo tries to clinch up but Lee circles away and keeps his distance.

Aldo leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Dominick Aldo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lee throws a head kick but Aldo moves out of range.
Aldo shoots in looking for a takedown. Lee tries to sprawl out of it but Aldo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lee manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Aldo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aldo swats him away and circles back towards the center. The fight moves into the clinch position. Lee is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Aldo lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lee backwards.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aldo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lee closes the distance and clinches. Lee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Aldo smiles and moves away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Aldo fails in his attempt to clinch. Lee fails with a takedown attempt. Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Aldo pinned against the cage. Aldo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Dominick Aldo will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Aldo wants to clinch up but Lee keeps it at a distance. Dominick Aldo is winning the standup battle so far. Lee tries to clinch but Aldo is having none of it. Aldo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lee circles away quickly and effectively. Lee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aldo circles away. Dominick Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cung Lee. The fight stays on the outside here - Aldo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Lee with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee tries for a takedown but Aldo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Aldo fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Lee wants to take the fight to the mat but Aldo manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Aldo gets underhooks to prevent Lee's takedown attempt.
Aldo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Lee tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
This has been an exciting period of action! Aldo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Aldo clinches up against the cage. Aldo has had enough of the clinch but Lee keeps him there for the moment. Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Aldo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lee walks away with a smile on his face. Aldo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Aldo fails in his attempt to clinch. Aldo scores a takedown into full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aldo sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Aldo lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Aldo won't let Lee get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Aldo misses with a head shot. Dominick Aldo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aldo working Lee over with strikes here. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Aldo cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Aldo trying to control but he's not successful this time. Aldo misses with a head shot. Aldo trying to control but Lee is having none of it. Dominick Aldo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Cung Lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that's the end of the fight! Dominick Aldo showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aldo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
