Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Konda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Scott!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Konda will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Konda walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Scott checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Scott dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Konda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Scott cracks a nice hook into Konda's ribs.

Konda shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Scott is trying to defend but Konda finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Scott is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Konda's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Konda's back!
Konda is keeping busy.
Scott might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Konda kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Scott is striking from the back but Konda escapes and manages to recover to half guard.

Konda trying to control here.
Konda avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Scott.
Konda blocking the ground and pound attempt from Scott.

Scott wants to work for an arm triangle but Konda is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Konda looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Scott is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Konda defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scott content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Scott misses with a head shot. Konda uses the momentum to regain guard.
Scott trying to control but Konda is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott tries to free his leg and advance position but Konda is retaining full guard.
Konda is trying to keep Scott in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott trying to control the position from guard on top but Konda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Scott must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Michael Scott was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Scott moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Scott scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Konda fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Konda. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Konda closes this distance looking for a takedown but Scott circles away.

Konda drives through with a takedown into Scott's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Konda is looking to advance position but Scott has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Scott lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Scott goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Konda turns into him and now he's in Scott's guard.
Konda slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Scott tries to improve position but can't.
Konda has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Scott!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Scott dominated that round.
That's time! Konda's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Konda misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Konda with a poor takedown
and Scott makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Konda takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Scott closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Konda quickly recovers to half guard.
Scott is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Scott is looking for a kimura but Konda is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Scott to get the leverage.

Scott thows an elbow strike that misses. Konda gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Scott doesn't seem too bothered but Konda quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Scott is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Scott really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Akira Konda!
A relieved looking Akira Konda thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
