PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damned Jimm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Nyberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nyberg comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Warriors Of The World (Manowar) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nyberg stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nyberg wants it to stay on the feet.
A low kick from Jimm misses

and Nyberg counters with a shoot takedown. Jimm fights it but they end up in guard.
Nyberg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Jimm had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nyberg defends it easily.
Nyberg wants to control from the top but Jimm keeps moving.

Nyberg avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jimm looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jimm escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nyberg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nyberg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jimm. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nyberg not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jimm lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nyberg!

Jimm moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nyberg has worked his arm free - good work by Nyberg!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jimm creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nyberg sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Nyberg is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jimm asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Jimm has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jimm tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Nyberg tries to escape but Jimm is in control.
Jimm is trying to ground and pound but Nyberg uses the momentary lack of control by Jimm to regain half guard.
Jimm passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nyberg!
Jimm throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Nyberg because Jimm loaded up on that one.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Poor strikes thrown by Jimm there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Jimm looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Nyberg tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jimm lands a nice shot to the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nyberg holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jimm tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Nyberg is looking to improve his position but Jimm isn't that keen on the idea.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jimm sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Nyberg tries to lock up and control but Jimm gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damned Jimm dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jimm avoids a kick to the body.
Nyberg circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jimm throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nyberg closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jimm is looking to reverse the position.
Nyberg tries to score with some ground and pound. Jimm controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Jimm sneaks back into half guard.
Jimm gets full guard.

Nyberg has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Jimm to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Nyberg is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Jimm pulls down on the head and he's put Nyberg to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Damned Jimm!
Damned Jimm decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
