The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rangarajan tries to land a body kick
and Merkel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Jagdish Rangarajan has been cut.
Rangarajan throws a looping overhand right but Merkel ducks down to avoid it.
Merkel misses with a body shot
and Rangarajan counters with a low kick, right behind Merkel 's knee.
Rangarajan cracks Merkel with a right hand to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rangarajan tries to score with a low kick but Merkel moves his leg out of the way.
Rangarajan fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Merkel checks it well.
A swing and a miss from Merkel.
Merkel takes a swing at Rangarajan's ribcage but misses.
A low kick from Merkel is predictable there
enabling Rangarajan to counter with a crisp jab.
Rangarajan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Armin Merkel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Merkel on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Rangarajan throws a quick inside leg kick.

Merkel tries to clinch up but Rangarajan circles away and keeps his distance.
Merkel throws a head kick that misses
and Rangarajan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Merkel's knee momentarily.
Rangarajan staying out of range there.
Some bone on bone action there as Merkel checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Rangarajan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Merkel checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Rangarajan throws a front kick aimed at Merkel's knee but Merkel avoids it well.
Merkel fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rangarajan, pushing him back against the cage.
Merkel misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Merkel has a couple of punches blocked by Rangarajan.
Rangarajan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rangarajan prevents a body shot from Merkel.

Rangarajan is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Rangarajan receives a warning from the referee for stalling.

Rangarajan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Merkel takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Merkel slips under a jab from Rangarajan.
Merkel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rangarajan was well out of range. Poor timing from Merkel.

Merkel tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rangarajan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rangarajan moves out of range as Merkel strikes.
Rangarajan misses the jab.
Rangarajan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Merkel.
Rangarajan thumps Merkel with a low kick.
Rangarajan misses with a hook. Merkel ducked under it nicely.
Rangarajan looks for the body kick but Merkel saw that one coming.
Merkel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rangarajan tries to land a front kick but Merkel steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Rangarajan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Merkel's sensitive parts.
Merkel misses with a hook to the body
and Rangarajan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rangarajan, right into the meat.
Merkel is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Merkel is breathing heavily.

Rangarajan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Merkel's sensitive parts.
Rangarajan thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Merkel if he has to take too many more of those.
Merkel has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rangarajan.
Oooooh!!! Rangarajan has knocked Merkel down with a huge combo! Rangarajan steps away and waves a wobbly Merkel back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

BAM! Rangarajan delivers a spinning backfist that drops Merkel like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
