Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Faria! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juliet Nazar! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Faria shoots and misses and Nazar counters with a takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Nazar controlling from side mount. Nazar throwing shots but missing, from side control. Nazar controls the position. Let's hope that Nazar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Faria managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Nazar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Nazar thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Nazar in side control, just content to control the action for now. Nazar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Faria is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Faria prevents Nazar from moving into mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nazar has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Faria! Faria tries to buck Nazar off but he can't manage it. Nazar throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Nazar working for a submission but Faria is keeping him at bay. Nazar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Faria knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nazar on the ground. Nazar lands a heavy elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nazar looking to control but Faria is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Juliet Nazar was stalling too much, according to the referee. Faria tries to close the distance and clinch but Nazar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nazar shoots in looking for a takedown. Faria tries to sprawl out of it but Nazar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Faria manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Faria tries to clinch up but Nazar circles away and keeps his distance. Faria tries to close the distance and clinch but Nazar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nazar is defended easily by Faria. Nazar looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nazar trying to control the action but Faria is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nazar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nazar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Nazar passes to side control. Faria being controlled for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juliet Nazar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Nazar on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Faria. Faria obviously looking to wear him down.
Nazar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Nazar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Faria throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nazar's waist but Nazar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Faria off to one side. Nazar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Faria closes the distance but Nazar moves to the side and Nazar counters with a single leg into guard. Faria didn't expect that. Nazar preventing the sweep. Nazar works a leg free and moves into half guard. Nazar is figuring out what he wants to do next. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nazar is trying to control the action in half guard but Faria is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nazar is figuring out what he wants to do next. Nazar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Faria is in trouble now - Nazar has advanced to mount! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nazar has control of Faria's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Faria regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Nazar is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Faria has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Faria is squirming around, avoiding Nazar's attempts to control the action. Nazar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nazar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Faria manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nazar drops back, looking for a kneebar! Faria looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Faria looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Faria! Nazar manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Nazar wants to control but Faria is keeping busy.
Faria will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Faria tries to stand but can't do so whilst Nazar controls his leg. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lucas Faria has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nazar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nazar. Juliet Nazar is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Nazar is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Faria frees his head nicely. Oh but Nazar has switched to an armbar! Faria is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
