Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Merik Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sven Didriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Comfortably Numb. Merik Hunt could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sven Didriksson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Merik Hunt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sven Didriksson! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunt misses with a series of wild punches.
Hunt throws a hook to the side of Didriksson's head but Didriksson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Didriksson throws a head kick that misses. Didriksson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hunt misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Didriksson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Didriksson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hunt is trying to defend but Didriksson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Didriksson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Didriksson is looking for a kimura but Hunt is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Didriksson to get the leverage. Didriksson is trying to control the action in half guard but Hunt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunt slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Didriksson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hunt has a closed guard, preventing Didriksson from standing up. Didriksson has gone for a leg lock! Hunt slips out almost immediately though and dives into Didriksson's guard. Hunt passes Didriksson's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Hunt lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Hunt working Didriksson over with strikes. Hunt thows a huge punch but Didriksson dodges it nicely.
Didriksson won't allow Hunt to pass to mount. The fighters are battling for position here. Didriksson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunt won't allow Didriksson to sweep him here. Didriksson wants to control the position but Hunt says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Didriksson is staying active underneath Hunt, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hunt sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Didriksson defending well though. Hunt trying to control the action but Didriksson is working from the bottom. Hunt is looking to advance position but Didriksson won't allow it. Hunt seems to be looking for submissions.
Didriksson is refusing to be controlled, as Hunt sits in half guard. Didriksson is pressing down on Hunt's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Hunt trying to control the position from guard on top but Didriksson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hunt pushing down on Didriksson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunt works his way into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Didriksson prevents Hunt from moving into mount. Didriksson struggling a bit here. Didriksson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hunt kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Hunt postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Didriksson prevents Hunt from moving into mount. Hunt works to advance to full mount. Didriksson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Hunt working away from the top, dropping strikes. Hunt landing punches.
It looks like Sven Didriksson has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hunt pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Didriksson is rocked! Didriksson is trying to escape the mount.
Didriksson is still in real trouble! Can Hunt finish him?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunt trying to control but Didriksson is having none of it. Hunt softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Didriksson is out cold! Hunt jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Merik Hunt! A relieved looking Merik Hunt thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
