The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pontes misses the jab.
Pontes throws a good cross that connects.
Maia displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pontes throws out the jab.
Maia takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Maia is defended easily by Pontes.
Pontes connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Maia's hands.

It looks like Demian Maia has been cut.
Maia takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Maia looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pontes throws a jab when Maia was well out of range.
The fighters circle momentarily. Pontes darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Maia moves away from the strike by Pontes.
A left lands for Pontes.

Maia shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Maia is rocked!
Pontes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Maia sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Maia is still on wobbly legs! Can Pontes finish him?
A big left from Pontes misses.
Maia fails to land the takedown.
Pontes scores with a body shot.
Maia looks gassed!
A big right followed by a crushing left from Pontes knocks Maia out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
