Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Quiggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarl Ekins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Quiggins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jarl Ekins! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quiggins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Quiggins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ekins is looking to reverse the position. Quiggins in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Quiggins is looking to take a break and control but Ekins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Quiggins happy to just control the position for now. Quiggins landing strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quiggins wants to control but Ekins is keeping him busy. Quiggins creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ekins sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Quiggins is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ekins has escaped the position, nice work there. Quiggins trying to control the position but Ekins is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Quiggins decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ekins to his feet. Quiggins misses with a head kick.
Ekins scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Ekins tries to clinch but Quiggins moves away and Quiggins counters with a shoot takedown. Ekins fights it but they end up in guard. Quiggins trying to control the position from guard on top but Ekins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Quiggins slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Ekins. Quiggins is trying to control the action in half guard but Ekins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Quiggins is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ekins is looking to escape. Quiggins thows a huge punch but Ekins dodges it nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ekins can do anything to dispel that myth. Quiggins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Quiggins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ekins does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Ekins is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ekins swinging wilding here.
Quiggins closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ekins to the mat! Ekins manages to get full guard. Quiggins wants to stand but Ekins has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Quiggins throws a big right hand that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quiggins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ekins is keeping the position for now. Ekins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quiggins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ekins wants to stand but Quiggins is controlling the position. Quiggins stays in close to Ekins's body and controls the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Quiggins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Quiggins slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Quiggins dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Quiggins looks for the body kick but Ekins saw that one coming. Ekins fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ekins tries to clinch but fails miserably and Quiggins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Quiggins seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Quiggins stands up from guard. Let's bang! Quiggins moves into the clinch successfully.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Quiggins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Quiggins prevents a body shot from Ekins. Quiggins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Quiggins fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Quiggins shoots for a double leg takedown but Ekins sprawls well. He's pushed Quiggins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Quiggins with that takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ekins stuffs the takedown. The fight stays on the outside here - Ekins looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Quiggins tries to clinch up and Ekins counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Quiggins on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Quiggins throws a combination that misses and Ekins counters with a straight right hand. Ekins swats away the attempt to clinch by Quiggins. Quiggins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Quiggins working the body and head with strikes. Quiggins throwing shots but missing, from side control. Quiggins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ekins, who protects the arm well. Quiggins trying to control the action but Ekins is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quiggins in side control, throwing shots but Ekins defends. Quiggins controls the position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ekins gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Quiggins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ekins taking shots to the head. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quiggins landing punches. Quiggins lands with some strikes. Quiggins content just to control the position here. Quiggins pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Ekins is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Quiggins is standing up, even though he is in mount. Quiggins throws a leg kick which misses Ekins's front leg but catches the back leg as Ekins tries to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Ekins. No joy for Quiggins on that attempt. Ekins moves into the clinch. Quiggins lands a body shot. Ekins lands a hook that snaps the head of Quiggins backwards. Ekins gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Quiggins.
Quiggins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ekins smiles and moves away.

and Quiggins counters by clinching up. Quiggins is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though. Ekins lands a body punch. Ekins jumps guard but Quiggins stands there with Ekins around his waist. Ekins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ekins is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ekins cracks a nice hook into Quiggins's ribs. Ekins is still on wobbly legs! Can Quiggins finish him? Ekins throws a jab but it's blocked by Quiggins. Ekins seems to have recovered his senses. Quiggins closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Quiggins dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Ekins lands a right hand. Quiggins wants to stall.
Quiggins drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ekins pulls his leg out and moves away.
Quiggins shoots in but Ekins avoids the takedown attempt easily. Quiggins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Quiggins trying to control but Ekins is working from the bottom. Quiggins slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Ekins wants to stand and escape but Quiggins is having none of it. Quiggins gets to his feet - Ekins follows without any prompting. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Quiggins decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ekins, up you get! Ekins tries to clinch but fails miserably and Quiggins counters with a left and a right that stings Ekins. Quiggins pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Quiggins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Quiggins is trying to work for a kimura but Ekins is defending well.
Still in half guard, Quiggins seems content to control. Quiggins passes the guard and advances to mount! Quiggins working for a guillotine from mount but Ekins is in no mood to give up. Quiggins wants to control the pace but Ekins is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quiggins stands up from mount. Strange move. Quiggins misses with a two punch combination.
Quiggins tries to clinch but Ekins is having none of it. Ekins with a hook. Quiggins wants to clinch up but Ekins keeps it at a distance. Ekins swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Quiggins counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Quiggins. Ekins being controlled here, momentarily. Quiggins gets to his feet - Ekins follows without any prompting.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ekins tries to close the distance and clinch but Quiggins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Quiggins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ekins swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Quiggins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ekins takes a head kick and keeps coming.

and Quiggins counters with a shoot takedown. Ekins fights it but they end up in guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ekins keeping moving, preventing Quiggins from controlling successfully. Quiggins gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Quiggins comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ekins swats away the attempt to clinch by Quiggins. Jarl Ekins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Quiggins throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ekins counters with a series of strikes. Quiggins will be more careful next time no doubt. Ekins throws a right and a left that both miss. Quiggins looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Quiggins is looking for a kimura here.
And that's the end of the fight! Johnny Quiggins showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Quiggins, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
