The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Hammersmith is looking to clinch but Lanzaro is avoiding it.
Lanzaro shoots in looking for a takedown but Van Hammersmith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lanzaro's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Van Hammersmith scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Freddy Lanzaro has been cut.
Lanzaro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Van Hammersmith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lanzaro gets caught flat footed, as Van Hammersmith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Van Hammersmith prevents Lanzaro from getting back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Van Hammersmith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Van Hammersmith drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lanzaro looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lanzaro looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lanzaro!
Lanzaro remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Van Hammersmith is looking to regain half guard here but Lanzaro keeps moving and retains side control.

It looks like Lanzaro might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Lanzaro is pressed up against the cage. Van Hammersmith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lanzaro down to the mat. Lanzaro avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
