The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel misses with a takedown
and Riley counters with a shoot takedown. Steel fights it but they end up in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Steel looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Riley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Riley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Riley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Steel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Riley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Riley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Riley!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Pierre Riley will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Riley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Steel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Steel is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steel sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Riley doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Steel paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Riley - great work!
