Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Forlan!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forlan tries to clinch up

and Jones counters by clinching up.
Forlan misses with the head strike.
Jones is trying to drag Forlan to the mat but Forlan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
A frustrated look appears on Forlan's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Come on Jones - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Jones is trying to trip Forlan. He has hold of a leg but Forlan is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jones persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Jones looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Forlan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones gets to his feet. Forlan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Diego Forlan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Forlan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones drives through and clinches with Forlan against the cage.
Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Forlan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Jones tightens his grip and picks Forlan up, before dumping him to the ground. Forlan manages to land in guard.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Forlan moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
Forlan checks a leg kick nicely.
Forlan fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Forlan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Forlan doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Forlan pushes him off.

Forlan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Forlan is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage.

Forlan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Jones decides to pull guard.
Forlan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Forlan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jones is pulling down on Forlan's head to control his posture.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Forlan's guard.

Jones stands and steps away. Forlan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Forlan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Forlan lands with an uppercut that bounces Jones off the cage and back into range.
Forlan throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Forlan connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Jones's hands.
Forlan works the jab nicely.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Forlan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Forlan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Forlan wants it to stay on the feet.

Forlan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Jones has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Forlan is breathing heavily.

Jones blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Forlan smiles and moves away.
Forlan cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Jones clinches.

Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Forlan trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Forlan looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jones pushes down on Forlan's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones controlling the pace.
Jones slips a nice elbow through Forlan's hands, connecting with Forlan's forehead.
Chris Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Jones frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jones controlling the position easily from mount.
BOOM! Jones connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Jones in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Jones tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jones pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Forlan is surviving well by controlling Jones's body position as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Forlan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Forlan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Jones moves into the clinch successfully.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jones rushes Forlan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jones jumps guard and drags Forlan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Forlan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Forlan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Forlan.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Forlan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Forlan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jones's head.
Forlan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Forlan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Forlan, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Forlan against the cage but Forlan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Jones counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Forlan misses with a short punch on the inside.

Jones has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Forlan clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Forlan is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Jones.
Diego Forlan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jones is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Forlan knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Forlan for a finish.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jones has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Forlan! Can he survive? No! He's out! Jones gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
