Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerry Spring! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tinkerbell McGee! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spring moves into range and clinches up with McGee. Spring tries to score a body lock takedown but McGee shows good agility there to stay on his feet. McGee scores with a hook to the body. Spring wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Spring is pressed up against the cage. McGee has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Spring down to the mat. Spring avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. McGee tries to clinch but Spring moves out of range. Nice uppercut there from McGee. Spring misses with a few strikes there.
Spring throws a head kick but McGee moves out of range.
McGee lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Spring is rocked! Spring misses with an uppercut. McGee tries for a takedown but Spring sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Spring rushes McGee and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. With the fighters up against the cage, Spring throws an elbow but misses. Spring breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. McGee scores with a hook to the body. Spring takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. McGee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Spring tries for a takedown but McGee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. McGee drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spring manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Spring is breathing heavily. Spring works his way to full guard. Good work. Spring tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGee wants to stand and escape but instead Spring has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Spring controls from within his opponent's guard. McGee wants to sweep here but Spring controlling him for the moment. Spring trying to control but McGee is working from the bottom. Spring pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McGee is keeping the position for now. Spring advances position into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. McGee can't do much from the bottom here. McGee takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Spring cracks McGee with a big elbow. Spring in side control, throwing shots but McGee defends. Spring content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. McGee stops Spring from passing to mount. Spring is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McGee is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Spring takes a little break here. McGee wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGee is looking to reverse the position. Spring scoring with punches from side control. Spring goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, McGee rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Spring's guard! Nice work there by McGee! Spring has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Spring kicks McGee off and gets to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spring attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Spring gets a clinch. McGee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. McGee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Spring throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Spring falls off balance throwing a combination
and McGee cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A head kick misses from Spring. Spring will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerry Spring. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spring showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McGee.
McGee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Spring trying to control the position from guard on top but McGee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Spring pushes down on McGee's leg and manages to get into half guard. Spring thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McGee's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jerry Spring dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A punch combination from McGee misses. McGee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Spring has managed to clinch.
Spring tries to score a body lock takedown but McGee shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Spring pulls guard effortlessly. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Spring is on top in guard.
Spring throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McGee works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McGee controls Spring momentarily but Spring frees himself. Spring wants to control from the top but McGee keeps moving. Spring showing good wrestling skills to control the position. McGee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spring. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Spring drops back looking for a leg! McGee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McGee manages to kick Spring off! Spring jumps back into McGee's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spring loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Spring trying to control but McGee is working from the bottom. Spring stands and steps away. McGee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Spring has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McGee finds it's way round the side to connect with Spring's head. McGee throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Oh Spring is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! McGee misses with a head kick.
Spring closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McGee keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. McGee is staying active underneath Spring, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Spring seems to have got his legs back now. Spring decides to return to a standing position. Spring tries to clinch up but McGee circles away and keeps his distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGee misses with a head kick.
McGee lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Spring takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

and Spring counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Spring. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Spring connects with a couple of short punches. Spring trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McGee keeping moving, preventing Spring from controlling successfully. Spring won't allow McGee to get back to his feet. Spring showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Spring passes easily into side control. Nice work. Spring tries to move into full mount but can't pass McGee's legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spring looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. McGee is looking to regain half guard here but Spring keeps moving and retains side control. Spring cracks McGee with an elbow. That is naaassty. Spring working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Jerry Spring overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Spring has knee on belly and moves into mount. McGee is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spring lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Spring get's back to his feet. McGee dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Spring shoots in and bounces McGee off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Spring trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Spring stops McGee from standing up. Spring gets to his feet. McGee looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McGee looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McGee wanted to stand there but Spring had control of the position. Spring is looking for a triangle but McGee pushes his legs off easily.

Jerry Spring dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Spring lands a jab-cross combination. Spring tries to close the distance and clinch but McGee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Spring scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Spring wants to control but McGee is keeping him busy. Spring has knee on belly and moves into mount. Spring working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. McGee is in a horrible position here. Spring smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Spring jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McGee is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McGee and Spring has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Spring looking to punish the body of his opponent here but McGee is avoiding damage well.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGee is trying to improve his position. McGee throws Spring to one side and escapes! McGee goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Spring on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Spring misses with a double jab
and McGee counters with a straight right hand. Spring circles away from the clinch attempt.
McGee swats away the attempt to clinch by Spring. Spring changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McGee tries to avoid it but Spring manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McGee to the ground. McGee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Spring tries for a takedown but McGee circles away easily and McGee counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Spring kicks off McGee and gets to his feet. Tinkerbell McGee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McGee is trying to control the action in half guard but Spring is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Spring makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Spring instigates a clinch. McGee is pressed up against the cage. A decent looking cross lands there for McGee. McGee is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. The fight moves into the clinch position. McGee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Spring. Spring moves out of range as McGee strikes. McGee has taken the fight to the clinch.

McGee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Spring preventing the sweep. Spring stands up over McGee, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Spring is pushing down on McGee's leg trying to pass to half guard. McGee is fighting to maintain full guard but Spring has managed to sneak the leg through. Spring prevents McGee from standing back up.
Spring controlling the action here. McGee tries to kick Spring off but Spring keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Spring is looking for a kimura here.
Spring has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McGee is trying to stand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spring is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Spring passes the guard and advances to mount! McGee is squirming around, avoiding Spring's attempts to control the action. Tinkerbell McGee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! McGee is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spring wants to control the pace but McGee is squirming around nicely. McGee trying desperately to get to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jerry Spring. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Spring, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
