Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sweaty Mullins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ripley Reynolds! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reynolds gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mullins counters with a nice double leg into guard. Mullins's corner is telling him to maintain position. Reynolds is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mullins is controlling him. Reynolds looking for a guillotine here but Mullins defends easily.
Reynolds had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mullins defends it easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reynolds isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mullins stacks Reynolds on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mullins!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mullins scoring with punches from side control. You can see the frustration on Reynolds's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mullins landing strikes. Mullins controlling the position. Reynolds takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mullins landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Reynolds gets back to half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mullins seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Reynolds looks gassed! Mullins slows the pace down in half guard. Mullins lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Mullins content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullins has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Reynolds is looking to control Mullins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Reynolds avoid being mounted? Mullins content to control rather than advance.
We're going to have a standup here because Sweaty Mullins wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mullins takes the fight into the clinch. Mullins effectively controlling the action here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mullins lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Reynolds's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mullins rushes Reynolds and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Mullins has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Reynolds clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Reynolds showing good submission defense here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mullins has the hooks in. Reynolds is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mullins clinches. Reynolds has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mullins is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Mullins gets a trip takedown into half guard. Mullins keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Sweaty Mullins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Reynolds trying to hold on to Mullins's head to control him but Mullins postures up.
Mullins seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Mullins is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mullins controlling the action here. Mullins is looking to advance position but Reynolds won't allow it. Reynolds is trying to maintain the position but Mullins is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mullins moves into the clinch successfully.

Reynolds gets caught flat footed, as Mullins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Mullins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reynolds is keeping the position for now. Reynolds working for a triangle but Mullins defends it easily.

Reynolds is breathing heavily. Reynolds being controlled here, momentarily. Mullins makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reynolds is trying to keep Mullins in close.
Mullins tries to free his leg and advance position but Reynolds is retaining full guard. Mullins advances position into side control! Mullins decides to stand back up. Reynolds tries for a takedown but Mullins circles away easily and Mullins counters with a takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mullins scoring with punches and elbows. Mullins moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Mullins working the head with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sweaty Mullins dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

The fight moves into the clinch position. Mullins works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Mullins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Reynolds wants to improve his position but instead Mullins has moved into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mullins moves into full mount! Reynolds won't be happy about that! Reynolds is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mullins cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mullins lands a big shot there that rocks Reynolds but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Mullins controlling from mount. Reynolds takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mullins in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Reynolds bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Mullins keeping moving, preventing Reynolds from controlling successfully. Reynolds is fighting to break Mullins's control of his arms but Mullins is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Reynolds has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mullins is proving hard to escape from. Mullins pushes Reynolds off and scrambles back to his feet.
Sweaty Mullins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reynolds avoids a punch combination nicely.
Reynolds tries to keep at a distance but Mullins has taken the fight into the clinch. Mullins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mullins moves into the clinch successfully.
A frustrated look appears on Reynolds's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mullins lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Mullins has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Reynolds regains guard immediately.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mullins is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Reynolds working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mullins has passed into half guard!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mullins is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Ripley Reynolds has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sweaty Mullins is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mullins content just to control the position here.
