Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thiago Junior!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior shoots in but Richards avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Junior misses with a two punch combination.
Junior shoots in and drives through. Richards sprawls well.
Junior fails with a takedown attempt.
Steve Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Junior.
Junior has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Thiago Junior has been cut.
Junior tries to close the distance and clinch up but Richards swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Richards throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Junior.
The fighters circle momentarily. Richards darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Junior gets caught flat footed, as Richards shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Richards stopping the sweep attempt from Junior.
Richards trying to stand up but can't free himself from Junior's guard.
Richards wants to control from the top but Junior keeps moving.
Junior throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Richards escapes and throws Junior's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Junior looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Richards lands a few punches from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Junior tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Richards is working Junior over with some ground and pound from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Richards controlling the position.
Richards stands up.
Junior with a poor takedown
and Richards counters with a one-two to the body.
Junior misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Richards to counter with a crisp jab.
Junior has his takedown stuffed
and Richards counters with a nice double leg into side control. Junior won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Junior tries to buck Richards off but Richards is having none of it.
Junior sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Richards thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Junior gets back to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Junior is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Junior looking to pass the guard.
Richards wants to sweep here but Junior controlling him for the moment.
Junior is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Richards manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Richards with shots to the head and body - Junior looks very uncomfortable down there.
Junior tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Junior is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Junior takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Richards dominating with strikes here.
Richards takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Richards scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Junior is rocked!
Richards postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Junior in real trouble here! The ref calls for Junior to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Richards!
