Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Neidhart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Grossman! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grossman lands with a nice body punch. Grossman tries to clinch there but Neidhart circles away.
Neidhart slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Neidhart misses the jab. Neidhart misses the shot to the body. Neidhart keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Neidhart wants to clinch up but Grossman keeps it at a distance. Neidhart blocks a low kick nicely. Neidhart throws a lazy uppercut
and Grossman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Neidhart thinking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neidhart misses with a hook. Neidhart stuffs the takedown attempt from Grossman. Grossman gets slowly back to his feet. Neidhart clinches with his opponent.
Grossman misses with some punches.
Grossman tries to score a body lock takedown but Neidhart shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Jim Neidhart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Grossman. Neidhart has Grossman pressed against the cage.
Neidhart is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Grossman is defending well for now.

The referee is keeping an eye on Neidhart - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Neidhart has clasped his hands together around Grossman's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Neidhart connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Grossman some visible discomfort.
The strikes coming from Neidhart are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Neidhart fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Neidhart is working Grossman over with some ground and pound from side control. Grossman wants to control but Neidhart postures up. Neidhart landing strikes. Neidhart creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Grossman sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Grossman trying to remain calm as Neidhart controls from the top position. Neidhart postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Neidhart content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Neidhart knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grossman on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grossman gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Grossman avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Neidhart. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Grossman won't allow Neidhart to pass to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neidhart scores with a punch to the head. Grossman moves out of range of the strikes. The crowd cheers as Neidhart lands an impressive looking overhand right. Grossman doesn't seem phased though. Neidhart darts in and clinches Grossman up against the cage. Grossman takes a shot to the head. Neidhart stalling the fight.
Grossman tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Grossman is looking to take this one to the mat. Grossman avoiding damage.
Neidhart will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Grossman up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grossman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Neidhart gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Grossman tries for a takedown. No joy.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jim Neidhart. Nice defenses there by Grossman.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters circling - Neidhart throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Neidhart lands with a straight right. Grossman didn't see that one coming. Grossman takes a swing at Neidhart's ribcage but misses. Neidhart has closed the distance and engaged Grossman in a clinch.

Neidhart has picked Grossman up - he's going for a ride! Neidhart dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Neidhart in particular looking to stall. Neidhart is trying to control the action in half guard but Grossman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grossman is pressing down on Neidhart's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Neidhart postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grossman wants to sweep here but Neidhart controlling him for the moment. Grossman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Neidhart controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Neidhart scoring with punches to the head and body. Neidhart has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neidhart trying to control the position from guard on top but Grossman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Grossman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Neidhart throws a strike but Grossman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Grossman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Neidhart is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Grossman, into his guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Neidhart trying to control but Grossman is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Neidhart dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Neidhart gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Grossman is working for takedown but Neidhart is calmly controlling the position for now. Neidhart gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Grossman.

Neidhart scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Grossman to see if he's OK. Neidhart lands a nice forearm strike. Grossman is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Grossman dodges the ground and pound from Neidhart. Neidhart is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Grossman can do to turn this around? Neidhart just content to control the position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Neidhart is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Jim Neidhart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Neidhart stopping the sweep attempt from Grossman. Grossman has an active guard here but Neidhart has managed to pass into half guard.

Robert Grossman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Neidhart lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Grossman hang on?
