Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ilham Aliyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ulf Minutsak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aliyev's entrance music is Why Can't We Be Friends? . A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ilham Aliyev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 14 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ulf Minutsak! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aliyev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Minutsak throws a sloppy head kick and Aliyev moves out of range easily. Aliyev fails with a takedown attempt. Aliyev dives in and grabs Minutsak's left leg, looking for a takedown. Minutsak pushes down on Aliyev's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ilham Aliyev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Minutsak shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Minutsak swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Minutsak misses with an uppercut
and Aliyev counters with a stiff right hand. Minutsak swings widly with a right hand
and Aliyev counters with a shoot takedown. Minutsak fights it but they end up in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Minutsak wants to sweep here but Aliyev controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aliyev throws and elbow that misses. Minutsak uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aliyev's guard. Nice move by Minutsak! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Minutsak accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Aliyev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Aliyev is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Aliyev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Aliyev is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Minutsak has managed to free his arm - good work. Aliyev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Minutsak tries to roll over but Aliyev keeps him under control. Aliyev is looking to advance position but Minutsak won't allow it. Aliyev looks to land a strike but Minutsak avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aliyev is pushing down on Minutsak's leg trying to pass to half guard. Minutsak is fighting to maintain full guard but Aliyev has managed to sneak the leg through. Aliyev trying to control the action but Minutsak is working from the bottom. Aliyev controlling the pace. Aliyev trying to control from half guard but Minutsak is working away. Aliyev missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Aliyev is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Aliyev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Minutsak doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aliyev.

Minutsak is looking for a sweep. Aliyev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Aliyev is working for a submission of some sort.

Ilham Aliyev dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Minutsak tries to clinch and Aliyev counters with a right hand to the body. Horrible takedown by Aliyev or perhaps it was just good defense by Minutsak which made him look bad. Minutsak tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aliyev swats him away and circles back towards the center. Aliyev shoots in for a takedown but Minutsak shows good takedown defense. Aliyev shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Minutsak sprawls well. Minutsak wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Aliyev gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ilham Aliyev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Minutsak swinging wildly here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aliyev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Minutsak pinned against the cage. Minutsak gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Aliyev ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Minutsak waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Aliyev. Minutsak throws a lazy head kick and Aliyev counters with a stiff right hand. Aliyev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Minutsak counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Aliyev is lucky that one didn't land flush.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aliyev throws a hook to the side of Minutsak's head but Minutsak sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Minutsak loads up on a big right hand but Aliyev slips the punch. Aliyev swings for the body but Minutsak moves out of range.
Aliyev takes a swing at Minutsak's ribcage but misses. Aliyev is trying hard to land a takedown here. Minutsak sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Minutsak misses with a wild body shot. Minutsak defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Aliyev. Aliyev lands a high kick!
Ulf Minutsak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aliyev takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Aliyev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Minutsak swivels and escapes. A head kick misses from Minutsak. Good leg kick by Aliyev there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Aliyev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Minutsak pinned against the cage. Minutsak gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Minutsak rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Aliyev counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Minutsak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aliyev was well out of range. Poor timing from Minutsak. Minutsak misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Minutsak tries to bum rush Aliyev with a series of wild strikes but Aliyev uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Minutsak tries a head kick but it misses.
Minutsak wants to clinch up but Aliyev keeps it at a distance. Minutsak throws a looping overhand right but Aliyev ducks down to avoid it. Aliyev closes this distance looking for a takedown but Minutsak circles away. Nice uppercut lands for Minutsak. That snapped Aliyev's head back.

Ulf Minutsak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Minutsak falls off balance throwing a combination
and Aliyev counters with a straight right hand. Left hook, right uppercut from Minutsak. Minutsak misses with a few strikes there.
Minutsak stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Minutsak wants it to stay on the feet. Minutsak cracks a nice hook into Aliyev's ribs. Minutsak throws the left hand but Aliyev avoids the punch easily. Aliyev shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Minutsak manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aliyev stopping the sweep attempt from Minutsak. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Minutsak can do anything to dispel that myth. Aliyev wants to control from the top but Minutsak keeps moving. Aliyev postures up.

That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aliyev has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Aliyev is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Minutsak is trying to escape and Aliyev transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Minutsak is forced to tap! Nice work there by Aliyev! Very nice indeed!
