Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robin Erwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jon The Great!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Great connects with a jab.


It looks like Robin Erwin has been cut.

Erwin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Erwin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Great is just riding it out for now. Erwin eventually gives up the hold.
The Great wants to get back to his feet.
Erwin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The Great tries to kick Erwin off but Erwin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Erwin escapes and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The Great missing with a left hand there. Erwin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The Great lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Erwin circles away quickly and effectively.
The Great throws a right hand that Erwin ducks under and follows up with a left that Erwin also avoids with ease.
A punch combination from The Great misses.
Erwin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts The Great as he jumps to the side.
The Great tests Erwin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The Great scores with a nice head shot.

Erwin takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Erwin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The Great is defending against the submission attempts here by Erwin.

Erwin seems to be looking for submissions.
The Great is looking to escape.

Erwin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Erwin prevents The Great from standing back up.

Erwin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Great is just riding it out for now. Erwin eventually gives up the hold.
The Great tries to kick Erwin off but Erwin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The Great really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Erwin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Erwin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Erwin seems to be looking for submissions.
Erwin uses his free foot to push down on The Great's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for The Great.

Erwin get's back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from The Great. No joy for Erwin on that attempt.

Erwin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into The Great's guard.
Erwin is breathing heavily.
Erwin won't allow The Great to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Erwin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The Great should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Erwin wants to control from the top but The Great keeps moving.
Erwin pushes down on The Great's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Erwin moves into full mount! The Great won't be happy about that!

Erwin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force The Great to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so The Great shrugs it off.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Erwin working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robin Erwin dominated that round.

The Great keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The Great lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Erwin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Great's guard.
Erwin won't allow The Great to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Erwin drops back looking for a leg! The Great is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and The Great manages to kick Erwin off! Erwin jumps back into The Great's guard.

Erwin throws a big right hand that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The Great is looking to stand up but Erwin isn't so interested in that idea.

Erwin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! The Great is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! The Great has escaped and now he's on top!

Erwin pushes The Great off and gets back to his feet.
The Great lands with a nice combination. Erwin backs away looking to recover.
The Great bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
The Great lands a jab to the head.
Jon The Great is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The Great keeps the fight on the outside.
The Great fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Erwin looks for a takedown but The Great sprawls well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Erwin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with The Great but The Great pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Great throws a one two combo.
The Great works the jab nicely.
A combination from The Great does no damage.
The Great fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The Great swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The Great throws a series of punches but Erwin moves out of range.
Erwin gets cracked there but stands up to it.


Robin Erwin's cut is getting worse.

Erwin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Erwin is trying to get an arm triangle but The Great is defending well.

Erwin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Erwin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The Great is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Erwin has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The Great is not content to let Erwin control the position.

Erwin has hold of The Great's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! The Great tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Erwin cranks the arm and The Great screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from The Great, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Robin Erwin!
