PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Kechko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivera is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Mortal Kombat. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oleg Kechko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diego Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kechko avoids it really well and circles away.

Kechko closes the distance and pushes Rivera back into the cage.

Kechko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kechko moves into the clinch successfully.

Kechko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kechko uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rivera.
Rivera looks for a takedown but Kechko sprawls well.

Kechko clinches up with Rivera and pushes him back against the cage.

Kechko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rivera avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kechko throws a right and a left that Rivera avoids nicely.
Rivera shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kechko pinned against the cage. Kechko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Oleg Kechko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Rivera.
Rivera slips a jab and a cross from Kechko.

Kechko drops Rivera with a left right combo! Kechko follows him down to the ground into side control.


It looks like Diego Rivera has been cut.
Kechko throwing strikes but Rivera manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Rivera staying calm.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kechko is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rivera has just dragged him back down to the mat.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Diego Rivera hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Rivera shoots for a double leg takedown but Kechko sprawls well. He's pushed Rivera's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kechko displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rivera.
Kechko misses with a series of wild punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rivera throws a hook but Kechko avoids it easily.
No luck for Rivera with that takedown attempt.

Kechko lands with a right hand.
Rivera tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kechko swivels and escapes.
Kechko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kechko wants it to stay on the feet.
Rivera avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rivera misses with a two punch combination.
A jab lands there for Kechko.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kechko but Kechko pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rivera looks gassed!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kechko lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Kechko feints and as Rivera raises his hands in defense, Kechko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oleg Kechko dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Diego Rivera's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kechko lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kechko.
Kechko lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


Rivera is rocked!
Kechko scores with the left hand. Rivera knows he should have avoided that one.
Rivera is still on wobbly legs! Can Kechko finish him?
Kechko throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rivera seems to have recovered his senses.
Oleg Kechko is winning the standup battle so far.
Rivera takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Kechko has Rivera up against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Kechko's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Kechko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kechko throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kechko scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Kechko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kechko wants it to stay on the feet.

Rivera fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kechko to the ground. Rivera is now in Kechko's guard.
Rivera postures up and lands a big shot to Kechko's brow.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kechko is looking to stand up but Rivera isn't so interested in that idea.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rivera slips nicely into half guard.

Rivera with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Rivera seems to be looking for submissions.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rivera in particular looking to stall.

Kechko is defending against the submission attempts here by Rivera.
Rivera passes the guard and advances to mount!

Kechko is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Rivera has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kechko avoids the strikes from Rivera.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Diego Rivera will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Rivera fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kechko misses with a jab, cross combination.
Oleg Kechko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rivera shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rivera content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kechko wants to get back to his feet.
Rivera moves nicely into side control.

Rivera tries for a kimura but Kechko is defending well.
Rivera cracks Kechko with a big elbow.
Rivera remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Rivera prevents Kechko from escaping the position.

Diego Rivera comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rivera has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
