Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Hakkerinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Hyypia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hyypia has chosen Hang out the stars in Indiana as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakkerinen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hyypia swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hakkerinen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hyypia tries to close the distance and clinch but Hakkerinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hakkerinen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hyypia's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hyypia wants to control from the top but Hakkerinen keeps moving.

Hakkerinen feints a jab promting Hyypia to slip. Hakkerinen then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hyypia slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A cross from Hakkerinen lands.
Hakkerinen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hyypia blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Hakkerinen thows a big elbow that misses.
Hakkerinen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hyypia looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hakkerinen has picked Hyypia up and slammed him! Hyypia can't keep hold of the triangle and Hakkerinen manages to pass to side control!

I would just about give that final round to Sami Hyypia.
