Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Tito Coleman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Green! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Green misses with a double jab.
Green rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Coleman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Green's guard now. Coleman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Green not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Green wants to sweep but no luck. Green utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Coleman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Coleman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Green looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Green looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Green! Green working the ground and pound but Coleman is defending the strikes. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Coleman is trying to buck Green off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Green tries to score with some ground and pound. Coleman controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Green misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Green is trying to ground and pound but Coleman uses the momentary lack of control by Green to regain half guard. Coleman slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Green trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Coleman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Green trying to control the position from guard on top but Coleman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Green throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Green throws a strike but Coleman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Coleman postures up in Green's guard and throws a big left but Green blocks it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Green looking to control.
Green is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Coleman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Coleman throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman cracks Green with a solid left hand. Green looking for a sweep. Not yet Green, not yet. Green is looking to sweep but instead, Coleman has passed into half guard.
Green is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Green has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nice strikes from Coleman there. Green trying to control here.
Coleman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Green's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coleman is thwarting Green's attempts to control the position. Coleman winds up and cracks Green with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Coleman is working for a submission of some sort.
Coleman trying to control the pace. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Coleman missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tito Coleman dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Green lands a slapping body shot.
Green looks to land a combination but Coleman avoids it well. Mike Green is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Green fails with the takedown. Mike Green seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Green gets caught napping as Coleman dives in and scores a takedown. Green manages to retain guard. Green is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Coleman defends well. Coleman advances to half guard. Green keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Coleman is trying to control. Green wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Green is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Coleman pulls his head out easily. Coleman wants to work for an arm triangle but Green is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Green keeps working. Green tries to roll over but Coleman keeps him under control. Tito Coleman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Green is trying to control but can't.
Coleman is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Coleman is trying to work for a kimura but Green is defending well.
Green moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coleman working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Green's head. Green lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Coleman! Green landing shots from mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Green is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Coleman is rocked! Green lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Oh Coleman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Whack. That's a big, big shot from Green! Coleman is out cold! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mike Green!
