Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoppsan Barley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Hoppsan Barley!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young throws an overhand right that lands on Barley's shoulder, as Barley tries to avoid the shot.
Young scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Barley swats away the attempt to clinch by Young.
Barley moves in looking to clinch but Young pushes him off.
Barley moves out of range as Young strikes.
Barley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Young takes a swing at Barley's ribcage but misses.
Young tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barley was well out of range. Poor timing from Young.
Barley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Young avoids it really well and circles away.
Barley tries to clinch but Young moves out of range.
Some wild striking there from Barley.
Barley misses with a two punch combination.

Young drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Barley struggling a bit here.
Young wants to control but Barley is keeping him busy.
Barley tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Barley is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Barley tries to get to full guard but Young has control of the leg.

Barley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Young not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Young wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barley keeps working.
Barley blocking the ground and pound attempt from Young.

Young is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barley wants to get back to full guard.
Young with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Barley is refusing to be controlled, as Young sits in half guard.

Young trying to mount his opponent but Barley defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barley is looking to control Young's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barley avoid being mounted?

Young tries to pass to full mount but Barley defends it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Barley misses with an uppercut. Young saw that one coming.
Barley misses with a head kick.
Young slips under a jab from Barley.
Young stalks Barley and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Barley's face. Barley staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Hoppsan Barley has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Young scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barley is not content to let Young control the position.
Young content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Young dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hoppsan Barley's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Barley tries to clinch but Young is having none of it.
Barley lands a slapping body shot.

Barley drops Young with a left and a right! Oh, Young is hurt - Barley dives into side control looking to finish!


Young is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barley throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Young works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Oh Young is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Barley throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Barley is looking to stall here but Young recovers full guard.
Young seems to have got his legs back now.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Young holds on and takes a little breather.

Barley pushes down on Young's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Barley controlling the pace.
Barley lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Barley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Young does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Barley is trying to work for a kimura but Young is defending well.
Young wants to control but Barley is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Young is staying active underneath Barley, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
It looks like Barley is going to stand back up.
Jason Young overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Young is trying to stand.

Barley trying to work for an americana but Young has managed to regain full guard.
Young wants to stand and escape but Barley is having none of it.
Barley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Young is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Barley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hoppsan Barley was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Young tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Barley counters with a right hand to the body.
Barley needs to keep his hands up - Young had a free shot at his head there.
Young's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Young duly obliges.
A right-left combo lands from Barley.

Barley closes the distance and clinches.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Young tries for a takedown. No joy.
Barley is pressed up against the cage. Young has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barley down to the mat. Barley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Young circles away.
Jason Young is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Barley forces Young back against the cage and clinches.
Young looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Young's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Barley tries to clinch but Young moves out of range.
Hoppsan Barley seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Barley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Barley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Young circles away.
Barley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Young avoids it really well and circles away.
Jason Young has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoppsan Barley.
Young shoots in and drives through. Barley sprawls well.
Jason Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hoppsan Barley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Barley shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Young pinned against the cage. Young gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Barley has his takedown stuffed
and Young counters with a left and a right that stings Barley.
Young lands with a shot to the body.
Young changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barley tries to avoid it but Young manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barley to the ground. Barley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Young lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Barley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Barley moves into the clinch.
Barley dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Young has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Barley avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Barley is trying to drag Young to the mat but Young just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jason Young has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoppsan Barley.

Young breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Young throws a sloppy head kick
and Barley counters with a head kick. That will keep Young thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Young lands the left hand.
Young shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barley as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Young avoids the head kick by Barley.
Barley tries to clinch up.
Young bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Barley's head backwards.
Barley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Young.
No luck for Young with that takedown attempt.

Young scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Barley is trying to control but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Young working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Barley's thigh. Barley counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Young throwing strikes from guard but Barley blocks nicely.

Young got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Young has managed to get both his arms back between Barley's legs - danger averted.

Young avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Barley throws his legs up looking for a submission but Young uses it to pass to side control.
Young tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Young trying to control the position but Barley is working away.
Young throws a strike aimed at the side of Barley's head but Barley avoids it well.
Young laying and praying for a moment but Barley takes advantage and regains half guard.
Young is figuring out what he wants to do next.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barley trying to hold on to Young's head to control him but Young postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Young showed his dominance in that final round.
