PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Bisping (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Bisping!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, William McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bisping lunges at McGregor with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by McGregor's hand.
McGregor doesn't manage to clinch there - Bisping circles away.
McGregor stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


It looks like Michael Bisping has been cut.
McGregor throws a right and a left that both miss.
McGregor misses with a series of wild punches.
Bisping dodges the punch combination from McGregor.
McGregor is looking to clinch.

McGregor gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGregor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bisping gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McGregor wants to get back to his feet but Bisping is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGregor can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bisping's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
William McGregor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bisping escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bisping bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Bisping drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Bisping fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McGregor to the ground. Bisping is now in McGregor's guard.
McGregor is trying to keep Bisping in close.
McGregor throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
McGregor will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McGregor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bisping is controlling him.

Bisping gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bisping takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
McGregor misses with a few strikes there.

Bisping is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McGregor's half guard.

Bisping decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
McGregor tries to clinch there but Bisping circles away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGregor tries to clinch but Bisping is having none of it.

Bisping fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McGregor, pushing him back against the cage.

Bisping breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Bisping will probably get the nod.

McGregor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bisping paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Bisping holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Bisping looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
McGregor looks like he's trying to stand up.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bisping prevents McGregor from getting the reversal.

McGregor wants to get back to full guard but Bisping has mounted him!
McGregor is breathing heavily.
Bisping controlling the pace for now.
McGregor wants to control but Bisping is having none of it.
You get the feeling that McGregor really doesn't like being in this position too much.

McGregor tries to keep at a distance but Bisping has taken the fight into the clinch.

McGregor throws a hook to the side of Bisping's head but Bisping sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Bisping closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McGregor's guard.

McGregor is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bisping is aware though and is defending well.
McGregor can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bisping controls the pace.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Michael Bisping is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McGregor throws a front kick aimed at Bisping's knee but Bisping avoids it well.

Bisping moves out of range as McGregor throws a body kick.

McGregor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bisping can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bisping, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
