PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Justus Sheehan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boby Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sheehan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to All Day n Night. Lee has chosen Lonnie G - Ledge as his entrance music. Justus Sheehan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Boby Lee's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Justus Sheehan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boby Lee!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee misses with an uppercut. Sheehan saw that one coming.
Sheehan shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lee, as that shot connected.
Sheehan dives in and grabs Lee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes down on Sheehan's head and hops out.
Lee throws a hook but Sheehan blocks it.
Sheehan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Lee misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sheehan.
Sheehan throws a combination. Lee tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sheehan.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justus Sheehan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lee swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lee throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lee misses with a body shot.
Sheehan scores with a jab to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee throws a hook but Sheehan blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sheehan.
Lee lands with a shot to the body.
Sheehan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sheehan closes the distance and clinches up with Lee, looking for a takedown. Sheehan pushes Lee against the cage but Lee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sheehan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sheehan slips a jab from Lee.
Sheehan on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lee.
Lee lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Sheehan tries to bench press Lee off him but Lee keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
It looks like Lee might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Sheehan can't do much from the bottom here.
Lee misses with the ground and pound.
Sheehan is looking for a sweep.
Lee trying to control the action but Sheehan is working from the bottom.

Sheehan struggling a bit here.
Lee trying to control the position but Sheehan is working away.
Sheehan is trying to get back to half guard.
Lee cracks Sheehan with a big elbow.
Lee slows the pace down.
Sheehan parries the strikes from Lee easily there. Lee is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Sheehan to escape.
Sheehan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lee wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee is staying tight to Sheehan's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sheehan struggling a bit here.
Lee throws a strike aimed at the side of Sheehan's head but Sheehan avoids it well.
Sheehan tries to improve position but can't.
Lee remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Sheehan can't do much from the bottom here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lee controls the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
You can see the frustration on Sheehan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boby Lee dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sheehan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Boby Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sheehan drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lee. Sheehan does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lee throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Sheehan to counter with a crisp jab.
Lee cracks Sheehan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sheehan moves away.
Sheehan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Sheehan persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.
Sheehan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away.
Sheehan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lee counters with a left to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justus Sheehan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sheehan walks into a straight right hand from Lee.
Lee scores with a three punch combo!
Sheehan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lee looking to score a takedown here. Sheehan is defending well but Lee drives through and ends up in Sheehan's guard.
Lee engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Let's hope that Lee has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Boby Lee was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Lee slaps away a takedown attempt from Sheehan, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Lee closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sheehan tries to bench press Lee off him but Lee keeps the position.
Lee advances to full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sheehan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Lee controlling the position easily from mount.
Lee's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lee pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Sheehan is squirming around, avoiding Lee's attempts to control the action.
Sheehan is bucking up trying to escape but Lee cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Lee is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sheehan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Sheehan tries to hold on but Lee pushes him away.
Lee controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sheehan is desperately trying to improve his position but Lee has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Boby Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Sheehan with a poor takedown

Lee throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sheehan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lee swings widly with a right hand
and Sheehan counters with a straight right hand.
Sheehan misses with a left hand
and Lee counters with a stiff right hand.
Sheehan has his takedown stuffed
enabling Lee to counter with a crisp jab.
Lee loads up on a big right hand but Sheehan slips the punch.
Sheehan has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lee finds it's way round the side to connect with Sheehan's head.
Sheehan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justus Sheehan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lee bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sheehan's head backwards.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lee swings for the body but Sheehan moves out of range.

Sheehan shoots in but Lee avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lee looks to throw the jab but Sheehan is out of range.
Nice shot by Lee.
Lee lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lee.


Sheehan is rocked!
Lee connects with a looping right hand.
Oh Sheehan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lee drops Sheehan with a naaaaasty hook - Sheehan is in real trouble here! Lee dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Boby Lee!
During a confident post fight interview, Boby Lee thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
