The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clapper shoots in looking for a takedown. Cao tries to sprawl out of it but Clapper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cao manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cao loads up on a big right hand but Clapper slips the punch.
Clapper ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cao dodges the punch combination from Clapper.
A jab from Cao does it's job there.
Clapper shoots for a double leg takedown but Cao sprawls well. He's pushed Clapper's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Clapper shoots for a takedown but Cao saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rusty Clapper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cao lands a body shot.
Cao throws a poor cross that misses

and Clapper moves into the clinch.
Clapper is working for takedown but Cao is calmly controlling the position for now.

Clapper tries to pull guard but Cao won't allow it.
Clapper is trying to drag Cao to the mat but Cao just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cao lands a left hand that snaps the head of Clapper backwards.
Cao makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Cao misses with a hook from the clinch.

Cao lands with a right to the head.
Clapper is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cao to keep the fight standing.

Clapper is breathing heavily.
Clapper blocking some punches.
A body shot lands from Cao.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cao pushes Clapper back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cao lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Cao lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Clapper backwards.
Clapper has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cao avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Cao lands a shoulder strike.
Cao makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Cao lands a nice uppercut.


Clapper is rocked!
Cao throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Clappers head.
Oh Clapper is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cao fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Clapper seems to have got his legs back now.
Cao scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Clapper takes a shot to the head.

Cao connects with a big uppercut there that sends Clapper tumbling to the ground! Cao follows him down into his guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Clapper keeping moving, preventing Cao from controlling successfully.
Clapper wants to improve his position but instead Cao has moved into half guard.
Cao frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cao is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Cao!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kaien Cao!
