Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hutch Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Bruens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruens has chosen River Below as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hutch Gibson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Bruens!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruens attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Gibson defending well as Bruens loads up on a big left hand.
Gibson slaps away a takedown attempt from Bruens, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Gibson clinches up with Bruens and pushes him back against the cage.

Bruens has hold of one of Gibson's legs. Gibson is fighting the takedown attempt but Bruens gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Bruens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gibson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bruens is standing up over Gibson. Gibson looks to escape but Bruens dives into side control.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Gibson moves into the clinch.
Gibson tries to stall but Bruens uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Gibson lands an elbow that stopped Bruens in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Paul Bruens has been cut.
Bruens struggles to land a body shot inside as Gibson controls his hands.
Gibson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Bruens blocks an elbow strike.
Bruens drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gibson pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd cheers as Gibson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bruens doesn't seem phased though.
Bruens does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gibson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Gibson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bruens manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bruens crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gibson - the referee stops the clock and Bruens gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gibson. Bruens manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I would just about give that final round to Paul Bruens.
I think Bruens has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
