Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Hurley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Jones jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hurley's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Chase & Status feat. Takura-No Problem. Ray Jones jr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Derek Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Jones jr!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones jr swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones jr fails with the takedown

and Hurley counters with a takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hurley lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Hurley working the head and body with strikes.
Hurley happy to just control the position for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Derek Hurley just wasn't active enough.
A slow jab from Hurley misses its intended target.

and Hurley counters with a single leg into guard. Jones jr didn't expect that.

Jones jr is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hurley defends well.

Hurley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hurley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Hurley closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jones jr did well to prevent Hurley getting side control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hurley connects with a nice short shot to Jones jr's temple.
Hurley perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jones jr gets full guard.
Jones jr is trying to keep Hurley in close.
Hurley seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hurley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones jr works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hurley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones jr on the ground.

Hurley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
