Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josef Dietrich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kong Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Le has chosen Ave Maria as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josef Dietrich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kong Le!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dietrich dodges the punch combination from Le.

Dietrich darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Dietrich wants to work for an arm triangle but Le is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Le is looking for a sweep. Dietrich is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dietrich stalling away here and it's allowed Le to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Dietrich lands a couple of elbows.
Dietrich in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dietrich stands and throws Le's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Dietrich is trying to get an arm triangle but Le is defending well.
Dietrich fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Le is not content to let Dietrich control the position.
Le can't do much from the bottom here.
Dietrich with the ground and pound but Le regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Dietrich is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Le is trying to stand up here but Dietrich is controlling him well.
Dietrich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dietrich not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dietrich is looking to take a break and control but Le is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dietrich is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Le doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dietrich.

Dietrich is working for a kimura but Le is defending it quite comfortably.

Dietrich is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Le has managed to free his arm - good work.

Dietrich is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Le defends it well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Le is trying to maintain the position but Dietrich is very close to passing his half guard.
Le is refusing to be controlled, as Dietrich sits in half guard.
Dietrich with the ground and pound but Le uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Le managing to control the position.
Dietrich is pushing down on Le's leg trying to pass to half guard. Le is fighting to maintain full guard but Dietrich has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Le scores with a jab to the body.
Dietrich avoids the head kick by Le.
Le throws a head kick but Dietrich moves out of range.

Dietrich shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dietrich throwing strikes here but Le is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Dietrich goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Le turns into him and now he's in Dietrich's guard.
Dietrich wants to sweep here but Le controlling him for the moment.
Dietrich is working hard here to advance position.

Dietrich keeping moving, preventing Le from controlling successfully.

Dietrich throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Dietrich is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Le defends well.

Dietrich has his foot on Le's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Le works his way back into a safe position though.

Le wants to control from the top but Dietrich keeps moving.

Dietrich had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Le defends it easily.
Le stopping the sweep attempt from Dietrich.
Le must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dietrich wants to hit a switch here but Le passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Dietrich there!

Dietrich can't escape the position.
Le takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dietrich manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Dietrich manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Dietrich tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dietrich is looking for a triangle but Le pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josef Dietrich dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Dietrich shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Le as he jumps to the side.
Le tries a head kick but it misses.
Le doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Le tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dietrich avoids it.
Le is trying to stall.
Dietrich has a couple of punches blocked by Le.
Le with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Dietrich can't get the takedown.
Le lands a good knee to the midsection. Dietrich won't want to take too many of those.
Dietrich is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Le pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josef Dietrich. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A short right from Le.
Le lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Dietrich backwards.
Dietrich managing to block the knees to the body from Le.

Le breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Le looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Dietrich is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Le wants to land a leg kick but Dietrich is out of range.

Dietrich closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dietrich lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A shot in the inside from Le.
A short body shot lands from Le as the two fighters clinch.
Dietrich blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Dietrich has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Le regains guard immediately.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Le utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Josef Dietrich is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dietrich trying to control the position from guard on top but Le is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dietrich slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Le looking for a sweep. Not yet Le, not yet.
Dietrich controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Josef Dietrich wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dietrich throws a lazy right hand but Le sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Good work by Le as he checks the leg kick.
Kong Le is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dietrich keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dietrich scores with the left hand. Le knows he should have avoided that one.
Dietrich throws a nice outside leg kick.
Kong Le has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dietrich.
Dietrich walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Le checks a leg kick nicely.
Le tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dietrich was well out of range. Poor timing from Le.
Dietrich misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Le takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Dietrich throws a solid leg kick but Le takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Dietrich.
Dietrich uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Josef Dietrich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Le throws a right hand that Dietrich ducks under and follows up with a left that Dietrich also avoids with ease.
Le stuffs the takedown attempt from Dietrich. Dietrich gets slowly back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Le drops his hands momentarily and Dietrich takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Josef Dietrich showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dietrich, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
