Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick Markakis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Markakis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Pepper!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pepper throws a combination. Markakis tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Markakis tries to keep at a distance but Pepper has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pepper looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Pepper tries to land knees in the clinch but Markakis avoids the damage to the body.
With the fighters up against the cage, Markakis throws an elbow but misses.
Markakis's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Pepper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Markakis is trying to drag Pepper to the mat but Pepper just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Markakis is working for takedown but Pepper is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Markakis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Markakis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pepper is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Pepper is trying to force a seperation but Markakis has the dominant position.

Pepper ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pepper no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Markakis trying to control the position from guard on top but Pepper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pepper is pulling down on Markakis's head. It's preventing any offense from Markakis, at least for the moment.

Pepper keeping moving, preventing Markakis from controlling successfully.
Markakis working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Pepper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Markakis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pepper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Markakis is one step ahead there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Markakis wants to stand but Pepper has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pepper fails to land with a series of punches.
Pepper throws a right and a left that Markakis avoids nicely.

Markakis shoots for a takedown but Pepper saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Pepper scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Pepper rushes Markakis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Markakis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pepper walks away with a smile on his face. Markakis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pepper throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pepper moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Markakis gets tackled into the cage by Pepper. Pepper maintains the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Markakis throws an elbow but it misses.
Markakis has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pepper after a bit of a struggle.
Markakis is breathing heavily.

Pepper jumps into guard, dragging Markakis to the mat.

Pepper wriggles free and stands up.
Pepper throws a right hand that Markakis ducks under and follows up with a left that Markakis also avoids with ease.
Pepper leaves Markakis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pepper fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Pepper is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Markakis's half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Pepper dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pepper tries to bum rush Markakis with a series of wild strikes but Markakis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pepper scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Pepper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pepper moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Pepper clobbers Markakis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
No joy there for Pepper, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Pepper lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Markakis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Markakis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Pepper avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Markakis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pepper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pepper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pepper is working Markakis over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pepper must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pepper has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Markakis is proving hard to escape from.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Markakis wants to hold on but Pepper pushes him away.
Peter Pepper has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pepper wants to control the pace but Markakis is squirming around nicely.
Markakis sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Markakis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pepper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pepper's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Markakis is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pepper is defending well though. Markakis let's go of the attempt for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Markakis controlling the positon.

Markakis has managed to slip his arm under Pepper's chin. This could be all over... yep, Pepper is tapping out! Submission win for Markakis.
