The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane throws a sloppy head kick and Fischer moves out of range easily.
An inside leg kick from Lane misses.
Fischer moves out of range of the body kick from Lane.
Lane throws a head kick but Fischer moves out of range.
Fischer stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lane.
A bone on bone clash there as Lane blocks the leg kick.
Fischer walks forward, straight into a front kick from Lane.
Lane takes one to the chin there.
Lane looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Fischer takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Lane looks for the body kick but Fischer saw that one coming.

Vil Lane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fischer sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Lane looks to land a body kick but Fischer moved away.

Fischer dips to his left and cracks Lane with an uppercut!

Lane gets caught flat footed, as Fischer shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Lane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Lane is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lane has his foot on Fischer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fischer works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fischer goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lane has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Fischer but great work by Lane.
Lane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fischer, who protects the arm well.
Fischer is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lane's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Vil Lane dominated that round.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Lane. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Lane misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Fischer has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Lane defend it? Fischer steps over the head and cranks it - Lane is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Fischer!
