The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jefferson misses with a takedown
and Lawler counters by clinching up.
Lawler wants to break the clinch but can't.
Lawler manages to break the clinch.

Jefferson with a poor takedown
and Lawler counters by moving into the clinch.
Jefferson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jefferson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Robbie Lawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Jefferson.
Lawler lands a left and a right that send Jefferson crashing to the mat, dazed. Lawler thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Thomas Jefferson has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lawler ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Lawler drops Jefferson with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jefferson looks back up at him and smiles so Lawler waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Jefferson is rocked!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Lawler has cracked Jefferson with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Lawler lands another huge swinging hook and Jefferson tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Jefferson, before Lawler can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Robbie Lawler!
In his post fight interview, Robbie Lawler started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
