Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ansatsuken Ryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silvester Szymanski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ansatsuken Ryu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Silvester Szymanski! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Szymanski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ryu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Szymanski fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Szymanski takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ryu lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Szymanski throws a hook to the side of Ryu's head but Ryu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ryu throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ryu lands a leg kick that knocks Szymanski off balance momentarily. Ryu lands with an uppercut that bounces Szymanski off the cage and back into range. Szymanski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ryu but Ryu pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ansatsuken Ryu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silvester Szymanski. Ryu shoots in and gets a takedown into Szymanski's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ryu pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Szymanski is keeping the position for now. Ryu trying to control but Szymanski is working from the bottom. Ryu tries to free his leg and advance position but Szymanski is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Szymanski wants to get back to his feet but Ryu is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Szymanski looking for a guillotine here but Ryu defends easily.
Ryu postures up.
Ryu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ryu works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ryu trying to control the action but Szymanski is working from the bottom. Ryu is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Szymanski sees it coming and defends easily. Ryu prevents Szymanski from standing back up.
Ryu is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Szymanski has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryu is trying to control the action in half guard but Szymanski is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Szymanski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ryu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Szymanski missing with punches from the bottom.
Ryu passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Szymanski!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ryu working for a guillotine from mount but Szymanski is in no mood to give up. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ryu is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Szymanski has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Szymanski! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryu keeping moving, preventing Szymanski from controlling successfully. Szymanski throws a big elbow that misses. Ryu is trying to keep Szymanski in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ryu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Szymanski is aware though and is defending well. Szymanski won't allow Ryu to sweep him here. Ryu manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Szymanski wants to hold on but Ryu pushes him away. Ryu looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Szymanski regains half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ryu is looking to advance position but Szymanski won't allow it. Szymanski is trying to maintain the position but Ryu is very close to passing his half guard. Ryu prevents Szymanski from standing back up.
This has been an exciting period of action! Ryu has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ryu working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ryu quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Ryu but it's paid off an Szymanski is forced to tap! Nice work by Ryu.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ansatsuken Ryu! Ansatsuken Ryu seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
