PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quartz Henkeln (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aoki Sudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henkeln comes to the cage accompanied by Smislovie Gallyucinacii - Vechno Molodoy. Sudo has chosen Armour Of God Thème as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Quartz Henkeln!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aoki Sudo!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henkeln swats away the attempt to clinch by Sudo.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sudo.
Sudo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Henkeln backs up against the cage.
Sudo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Henkeln throws a nice looking combination but Sudo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Henkeln fails to land with a series of punches.
Sudo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Henkeln tries to avoid it but Sudo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Henkeln to the ground. Henkeln escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Henkeln throws the left hand but Sudo avoids the punch easily.
Sudo doesn't manage to clinch there - Henkeln circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sudo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Henkeln napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Sudo decides to stand back up.
Henkeln ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sudo moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Henkeln as Sudo shoots in.
Quartz Henkeln has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aoki Sudo.

and Sudo counters by moving into the clinch.

Henkeln lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Sudo has managed to clinch.
Sudo tries to pull guard but Henkeln forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Sudo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Henkeln swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sudo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sudo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sudo wants to get up but he can't break Henkeln's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sudo seems to be working for a kimura but Henkeln defends the submission attempt.
Sudo is stalling here. Henkeln is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sudo seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Henkeln has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Henkeln wants to stand but Sudo is controlling his arm.

Henkeln is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sudo has escaped the position, nice work there.

Sudo wants to control but Henkeln postures up.

Sudo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Henkeln's best efforts.

Sudo is looking for a triangle but Henkeln pushes his legs off easily.

Sudo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Sudo looking for a guillotine here but Henkeln defends easily.

Sudo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Henkeln gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Aoki Sudo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Henkeln slaps away a takedown attempt from Sudo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sudo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Sudo wants to clinch up but Henkeln keeps it at a distance.

Henkeln lands a glancing blow to the side of Sudo's head.
Henkeln lands an overhand right.
Sudo tries to clinch there but Henkeln circles away.

Sudo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Henkeln.

Henkeln gets tackled into the cage by Sudo. Sudo maintains the clinch.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Quartz Henkeln has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Aoki Sudo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Quartz Henkeln is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Henkeln jabs Sudo to the body, keeping him at a distance.
