Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Duggan! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roy Royler! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Royler misses with a looping right. Duggan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Royler.
Duggan avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Royler throws a looping overhand right but Duggan ducks down to avoid it. Royler misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Duggan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Royler was well out of range. Poor timing from Duggan. Royler moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Royler throws the left hand but Duggan avoids the punch easily. Royler throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Duggan. Royler fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Duggan manages to avoid it. Royler is looking to chop away at Duggan's legs. Royler scores with a shot to the body.
Duggan misses with a looping right. Royler misses with a low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duggan tries to work over Royler's front leg with a kick but Royler checks it. A looping hook to the body misses from Royler. Duggan does a little dance to reset his feet. Duggan tries to clinch up. Royler fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Duggan manages to avoid it. Royler throws a shot to the body.
Duggan moves out of range as Royler strikes. Duggan throws a leg kick that is checked and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Royler thuds a left hand into Duggan's body. Royler dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Duggan is breathing heavily. Royler cracks Duggan with a right hand to the side of the head. Royler will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
This has been an exciting period of action! Duggan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Royler.
Roy Royler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duggan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Royler. Duggan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Duggan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Royler is out of range. Royler fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Royler throws a chopping leg kick but Duggan manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Royler swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The fight moves into the clinch position. A short right from Royler. Duggan misses with a punch on the inside.
Royler lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Duggan works on Royler's body with a couple of short punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Royler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Roy Royler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Royler stuffs the takedown. Duggan swings widly with a right hand
and Royler counters with a nice uppercut. Duggan lands a lovely overhand right. Royler looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Royler dips to his left and cracks Duggan with an uppercut! A decent looking cross lands there for Royler. Royler avoids a kick to the body.
A punch combination from Royler misses. Royler swings widly with a right hand
and Duggan counters with a lovely straight right hand! Royler works the jab nicely. Royler pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Royler misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Duggan.

Royler scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Royler stuns Duggan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Royler avoids a low kick by using good footwork. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A lazy left from Duggan finds it's target. Royler throws a head kick that half lands.
Duggan is rocked! Duggan is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Royler moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roy Royler! Roy Royler is the new middleweight champion!
