PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Tompkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tompkins comes to the cage accompanied by Dying Fetus - One Shot, One Kill. On his way into the cage it seems that Steve Tompkins has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Steve Tompkins seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Tompkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Summers!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tompkins thuds his right hand into Summers's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Summers.
Tompkins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Summers but Summers pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tompkins lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Tompkins lands with a good body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Summers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tompkins sprawls well. Tompkins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Summers gets slowly back to his feet.
Tompkins throws a solid leg kick but Summers takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Tompkins.
Tompkins misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Tompkins lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.


It looks like Dave Summers has been cut.
Summers fails to land with a series of punches.

Tompkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Summers wants to control the position but Tompkins says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Summers is staying active underneath Tompkins, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tompkins performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Tompkins wants to control but Summers is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Summers is looking to improve his position.
Tompkins slips a nice elbow through Summers's hands, connecting with Summers's forehead.
Tompkins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tompkins trying to control the action but Summers is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tompkins working Summers over with strikes.
Tompkins wants to control but Summers is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Steve Tompkins.
Summers stuffs the takedown attempt from Tompkins. Tompkins gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Tompkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tompkins Rushes Summers and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Summers is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Tompkins Piles on the pressure and Summers crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
