Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jon Erik Andersen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Roberts! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roberts shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roberts showed some decent athleticism there. Andersen is looking for a sweep. Roberts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Roberts is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Andersen is trying desperately to improve position. Roberts working for a guillotine from mount but Andersen is in no mood to give up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roberts tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Andersen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roberts landing strikes, looking to finish! Roberts punishing his opponent with strikes. Andersen is looking to improve his position but Roberts isn't that keen on the idea. Roberts is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Andersen is surviving well by controlling Roberts's body position as best he can. Andersen has left one of his arms exposed and Roberts doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Andersen screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
