Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dean Walsh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stephen Shepeard! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walsh shoots in and bounces Shepeard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Walsh trying to control but Shepeard is working from the bottom. Shepeard is trying to control the position but Walsh postures up. Shepeard keeping moving, preventing Walsh from controlling successfully. Walsh tries to free his leg and advance position but Shepeard is retaining full guard. Walsh trying to control but Shepeard is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dean Walsh. Walsh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shepeard as he avoids it easily. Walsh shoots in and drives through. Shepeard sprawls well. Shepeard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shepeard wants to control but Walsh is keeping him busy. Shepeard working away. Shepeard wants to control but Walsh is keeping him busy. Shepeard wants to stand but Walsh has his arm trapped. Walsh manages to work his way to half guard, despite Shepeard's best efforts.

Stephen Shepeard has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Walsh tries to sprawl but Shepeard drives through with a takedown into half guard. Shepeard looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shepeard seems to be working for a kimura but Walsh defends the submission attempt. Walsh manages to get to full guard.
Shepeard is sitting in close to Walsh's body. Walsh has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Shepeard is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Shepeard is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Walsh.
