Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Donnie Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ohiru Hultquist!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Hultquist sprawls well.
Hultquist cracks Jackson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Ohiru Hultquist seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hultquist moves away.

Jackson drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hultquist can't keep his opponent in guard - Jackson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hultquist does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Hultquist is defending well.
Hultquist really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson wants to control but Hultquist is keeping him busy.

Jackson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hultquist is just riding it out for now. Jackson eventually gives up the hold.
Jackson passes to side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hultquist can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jackson has hold of Hultquist's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Hultquist seems comfortable defending it but Jackson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Hultquist is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Hultquist is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Jackson couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Donnie Jackson!
Post fight, an emotional Donnie Jackson said ' I'm now ready to revenge all my loses then reclaim my title!'.
