The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rasputin misses with a takedown attempt and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rasputin's guard now. Smith throwing strikes but missing. Rasputin wriggles free and stands up. Smith drives through and clinches with Rasputin against the cage.
Rasputin is pushing Smith up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. A short uppercut from Smith. Smith gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Rasputin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smith! Rasputin landing strikes from the mount.
It looks like Kellen Smith has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rasputin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Smith can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rasputin looking for a guillotine from mount but Smith is having none of it. Smith manages to regain half guard. Good work. Smith trying to control from the bottom.

Rasputin is looking for a kimura but Smith is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rasputin to get the leverage. Rasputin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily. Rasputin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Smith has managed to free his arm - good work. Rasputin is trying to work for a kimura but Smith is defending well.
Rasputin is breathing heavily. Smith wants to get back to full guard.

Rasputin is looking to advance position but Smith won't allow it. Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Rasputin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rasputin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Smith doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rasputin. Rasputin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Smith has managed to free his arm - good work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith trying to control but Rasputin postures up.
Rasputin is working for a kimura but Smith is defending it quite comfortably.
Smith looking for submissions off his back. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smith is controlling Rasputin's trapped leg to prevent Rasputin from advancing to side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kellen Smith will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Kellen Smith's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Smith tests Rasputin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin has been cut. Rasputin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith lands a jab to Rasputin's midsection. Smith throws a head kick but Rasputin moves out of range.
Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rasputin. Kellen Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rasputin doesn't seem bothered though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rasputin on the wrong end of a nice hook. No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Rasputin to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Rasputin looks to clinch but Smith throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Rasputin taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
