PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guy Owen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Owen comes to the ring accompanied by Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Guy Owen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Nathan Steel!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel tries a head kick but it misses.
Owen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Steel as he jumps to the side.
Steel lands with a slapping head kick.
Steel pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Owen lands with an uppercut that bounces Steel off the ropes and back into range.
Steel lands a glancing blow to the side of Owen's head.
Owen blocks a head kick by Steel.
Steel tries a head kick but it misses.
Owen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Steel as he avoids it easily.

Owen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Owen throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Steel to regain full guard.
Owen content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Owen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Owen wants to free his trapped foot but Steel is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Owen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Owen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Owen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Steel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Owen is looking for a kimura but Steel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Owen to get the leverage.

Owen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Steel with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Owen wants to work for an arm triangle but Steel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Owen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Steel sprawls well. Steel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Owen gets slowly back to his feet.

Steel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Owen cracks Steel with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nathan Steel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Owen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Steel looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steel is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Owen asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Owen is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Steel looks calm but he's in trouble here. Owen gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Steel is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Owen lets go of the hold and Steel can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Guy Owen!
Guy Owen gave a mention to Fossington & Blythe: Gentlemen's Fight Attire in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
