Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Etan Xoul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Payton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payton showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Xoul.
Payton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Payton lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Payton throws a body punch but Xoul moves out of range.
Payton wants to clinch but Xoul slips to the side
and Xoul counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Xoul.
Xoul misses with an elbow over the top.
Xoul stalling against the ropes.
Payton wants to take the fight to the mat but Xoul manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Xoul tries to land knees in the clinch but Payton avoids the damage to the body.

Payton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Payton looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Xoul has picked Payton up and slammed him! Payton can't keep hold of the triangle and Xoul manages to pass to side control!
Xoul grinds an elbow into Payton's temple.
Xoul creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Xoul is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Payton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Xoul is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

and Xoul moves into the clinch.

Xoul is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Payton defends well.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Payton is looking to advance position but Xoul won't allow it.
Xoul knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Payton on the ground.

Xoul is looking to get back to full guard here but Payton has managed to pass to side control instead.

Xoul leaves Payton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Gary Payton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Xoul's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Xoul lands a left hand that snaps the head of Payton backwards.
Xoul tightens his grip and picks Payton up, before dumping him to the ground. Payton manages to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

No joy there for Xoul, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
