Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Aoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kimbo Assis!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assis has closed the distance and engaged Aoshi in a clinch.
Assis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Aoshi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Assis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Aoshi chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Assis can pounce on him.
A combination from Aoshi does no damage.
Aoshi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aoshi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Assis slips a jab and a cross from Aoshi.
Aoshi lands a nice looking body shot.

Assis drives through and clinches with Aoshi against the ropes.

Assis prevents Aoshi from breaking the clinch.
Assis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Aoshi blocks a head kick by Assis.

Assis tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Aoshi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Aoshi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Assis drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Assis takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Aoshi gets caught flat footed, as Assis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Assis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Aoshi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aoshi tries to get out of the position.
Assis trying to control the position from guard on top but Aoshi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Assis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Aoshi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Assis won't allow Aoshi to get back to his feet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kimbo Assis wasn't active enough on the ground.
Assis clinches with his opponent.
Aoshi wants to break free but Assis has control.
Assis prevents Aoshi from breaking the clinch.

Aoshi is trying to push Assis away but Assis has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Assis tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Aoshi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Assis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Aoshi smiles and moves away.
Aoshi throws a series of strikes that have Assis backpedaling.
Aoshi lands with an uppercut that bounces Assis off the ropes and back into range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Aoshi stuffs the takedown.
Aoshi connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Assis avoids the head kick by Aoshi.
Assis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Assis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Assis manages to break the clinch.
Assis misses with an uppercut. Aoshi saw that one coming.
Aoshi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Aoshi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Assis lands with a straight right. Aoshi didn't see that one coming.
Aoshi misses with a series of wild punches.
Aoshi tries a head kick but it misses.
Aoshi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Assis.
Shinji Aoshi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kimbo Assis.
Aoshi lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Assis backs up against the ropes.

Assis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Shinji Aoshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Assis looks gassed!
Aoshi throws a head kick that Assis semi-blocks.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Aoshi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Assis on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Aoshi. Aoshi obviously looking to wear him down.

Aoshi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Assis.
Assis shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Aoshi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Assis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Aoshi did well to prevent Assis getting side control.
Assis content to control rather than advance.
Assis looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Aoshi wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Aoshi trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Assis seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Aoshi is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
