Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chack Dos Santos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luciano Bivar! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dos Santos tries to clinch and Bivar counters with a head kick. That will keep Dos Santos thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Dos Santos shoots in for a takedown but Bivar shows good takedown defense. Dos Santos throws a lazy body kick and Bivar counters with a nice low kick that buckles Dos Santos's knee momentarily. Dos Santos tries to clinch there but Bivar circles away.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Bivar lands a takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Bivar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dos Santos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bivar loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dos Santos controlling Bivar's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bivar throws a big right hand that misses. Bivar with a flurry of punches that miss. Bivar controlling from the top position. Bivar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Bivar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dos Santos works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Dos Santos controls Bivar momentarily but Bivar frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dos Santos working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bivar. Bivar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Bivar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Dos Santos controls Bivar momentarily but Bivar frees himself.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chack Dos Santos. Dos Santos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bivar circles away. Dos Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chack Dos Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dos Santos misses with a takedown and Bivar moves into the clinch. Dos Santos is breathing heavily. Bivar prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bivar has picked Dos Santos up - he's going for a ride! Bivar dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Bivar in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Dos Santos tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Bivar!
