PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Felix King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Forlan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Felix King has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Felix King seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felix King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Forlan!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Forlan pinned against the cage. Forlan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

King takes the fight into the clinch.
King using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Forlan has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Forlan dodges an elbow strike from King.

King gets control of Forlan's arms and successfully pulls guard. King will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
King might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Diego Forlan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

King is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Forlan's half guard.
King wants to take a breather but Forlan is having none of it.

Forlan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

King shoots in looking for a takedown but Forlan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing King's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Forlan is aware though and is defending well.
Forlan wanted to stand there but King had control of the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


King closes this distance looking for a takedown but Forlan circles away.
Forlan slaps away a takedown attempt from King, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Diego Forlan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Forlan gets in close and instigates a clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Forlan creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

King gets control of Forlan's arms and successfully pulls guard. King will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
King not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
King seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Forlan wants to stand but King is controlling his posture from full guard.

Felix King has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

King shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

King gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Forlan leaves King with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

King looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

King is looking for a kimura but Forlan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for King to get the leverage.
Forlan preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

King is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Forlan is refusing to be controlled, as King sits in half guard.

Forlan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

King seems to be looking for submissions.

King fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Forlan avoids it really well and circles away.

Felix King overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

King has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Forlan defend it? King steps over the head and cranks it - Forlan is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for King!
