Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andy Berger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Cowell!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowell tries to clinch but Berger moves out of range.
Cowell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Berger.

Berger drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Berger wants to pass the guard but Cowell is keeping the position.
Cowell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Berger manages to get himself to full guard.
Berger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Andy Berger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Cowell. No joy for Berger on that attempt.
Berger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cowell's waist but Cowell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Berger off to one side.
Berger shoots in looking for a takedown but Cowell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Berger's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Berger. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Berger turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Berger manages to end up in side control.

Berger swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cowell is now in Berger's guard. A big mistake from Berger there, giving up the dominant position!

The referee asks Cowell politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cowell prefers to stall for the moment though.

Cowell tries to score with some ground and pound. Berger controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Cowell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cowell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cowell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Berger knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cowell on the ground.

Cowell stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cowell dives in and grabs Berger's left leg, looking for a takedown. Berger pushes down on Cowell's head and hops out.
Berger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cowell's waist but Cowell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Berger off to one side.

Berger shoots in looking for a takedown. Cowell tries to sprawl out of it but Berger keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cowell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Berger tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cowell swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cowell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Berger tries to avoid it but Cowell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Berger to the ground. Berger escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well Cowell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
